The government’s recent commitment to bring forward it’s 2010/11 public sector spend into the next fiscal year will have a dramatic effect on those manufacturing and engineering business’s who have spent the growth years investing in specialist skills and equipment to meet the new and exacting European quality assurance standards. In fact going forward, companies who do not hold correct accreditation and Link Up approval will find it nye on impossible to successfully tender for public sector projects.

It has been this investment and commitment that has seen West Midland’s engineering group Steelway see it’s market share and involvement in public sector projects almost double in the last three years. The company which has recently gone through a major rebranding exercise has four core divisions involved in specialist architectural metalwork, fencing, sports and amenity products, access covers and security products, and a new division dedicated to the rail industry. Steelway currently employ over 200 personnel across two manufacturing plants based in Wolverhampton and West Bromwich in the West Midlands.
