The new developers promised to slash construction costs by 20% and the assessors found that the 147 flats are indeed 20% better specified than the norm. It’s a bright cheery and immensely habitable scheme with double height entrance halls, brightly coloured vitreous enamel cladding, corridor glazing half as wide again than the norm, soft overhead lighting and carpeting. These are modular construction homes that feature large rooms and 10sq m balconies, demonstrating that high density apartments can provide splendid family homes.
