FOUR BRAND NEW ‘AMENITY ZONES’ FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE, AS WELL AS PRIVATE GARDENS OR BALCONIES FOR ALL

In March, 40 families moved from their 1950s homes into brand new properties in the neighbourhood. The final ‘decant’ of residents took place at the end of June and marked the successful transfer of 84 households on the Page Road estate into new accommodation. This signalled the beginning of the third and final phase of the regeneration which will include the construction of a further 155 homes for rent, shared ownership and sale.

Regenerated by Catalyst Housing Group and Inspace contractors, the new Page Road is not simply about replacing old homes. Residents are also benefiting from better designed shared green spaces including four brand new ‘amenity zones’ for children and young people, as well as private gardens or balconies for all. Catalyst has also funded an ongoing programme of youth activities and runs apprenticeship schemes to encourage local residents into the construction industry.

Catalyst and all its stakeholders have worked very closely with the residents throughout to ensure that they are informed about the regeneration scheme every step of the way. Residents have have also had a say in the look of their new homes – from consulting about colour schemes, to adapting kitchens and bathrooms for people with disabilities.

Catalyst has not only created great quality homes and green spaces but has also introduced activities for children and young people to enjoy, as well as training opportunities for local residents.
