WHETHER YOU’RE REPLACING A KITCHEN, INSTALLING A WET ROOM, OR REFURBISHING AN ENTIRE HOUSING BLOCK, DIFFERENT PRIORITIES WILL DICTATE THE BEST FLOORING SOLUTION FOR EACH INTERIOR SPACE, AND TARKETT HAS THE WIDEST SELECTION OF PRODUCTS TO SUIT ALL CIRCUMSTANCES.

A common complaint amongst residents in multioccupancy buildings is noisy neighbours. Tarkett’s new Tapiflex Housing range is a high performance, heavy domestic flooring specifically designed for the housing market. Suitable for all domestic applications, the heterogeneous vinyl features a foam backing that helps provide high impact sound resistance, reducing noise and softening steps while still providing comfort underfoot. Available in sheet and tile, Tapiflex Housing offers greater flexibility and ease of installation in a choice of 12 decorative finishes, including 3 sheet wood effects and one wood parquet tile. In tile format, it can be a cost-effective option as installation waste is minimised.

Tapiflex Housing is ideal for kitchens and bathrooms while the wood designs are particularly suited to living rooms and communal areas. Alongside the very high sound reduction (up to 20dB), Tapiflex Housing also has an excellent residual indentation profile (0.22mm), resisting surface damage when furniture is moved. This not only reduces the stress of noisy neighbours, but also offers long term cost savings to the landlord since the flooring needs replacing less often.

For certain areas, a higher degree of slip resistance and safety may be required. Tarkett’s Safetred range provides R10 slip resistance that is sustained throughout the product’s life, being manufactured to the EN13845 standard. Although safety is of the utmost concern, style is not compromised with the Safetred range. Available in a large pallet of colours and designs Safetred Dimension features a decorative flake effect, while Safetred Spectrum has decorative chips and Safetred Universal’s granite and flint granules add an extra dimension to its design.

All Safetred floors are finished with Tarkett’s Safety Clean PUR reinforcement making them easier to clean and maintain than traditional safety floors, and offering cost-savings through reduced consumption of energy, water and chemicals needed for cleaning. They also feature a minimum 25% recycled material content, further enhancing their environmental credentials and assisting landlords in achieving sustainability targets for housing stock.

Social landlords will also be concerned about compliance with the latest DDA requirements for full accessibility in new homes. This can cause particular issues with regards to bathroom facilities, but one solution is the installation of a complete wetroom system from Tarkett. This specialist product has been developed with the user at the heart of the design process.

The colour range has been grouped into three to create three distinct worlds of well-being: ‘soft and relaxing’ uses the purity of whites and the clarity of neutral colours to create a peaceful atmosphere; ‘warm and comforting’ combines the warmth and dynamism of yellow and red ochres to warm the room; while ‘fresh and dynamic’ utilises revitalising cool blues combined with aniseed tints for a particularly stimulating effect.

Tarkett’s wetroom concept comes as a complete system including floor and wallcoverings along with all the necessary accessories such as drains, threshold strips, and sleeves. The absence of a shower tray makes access to the shower area easy, especially for people with reduced mobility, and ensures great freedom of movement. The flooring is pleasant to bare feet and the bright and uplifting colour ranges are perfectly suited to all types of wetroom.

By using hot welded joints, the wall is completely covered to give total impermeability, while the Class C non-slip flooring offers maximum safety. As the floor and wallcoverings are supplied in 2m wide sheets, the number of joints can be kept to a minimum making maintenance easier. All wallcoverings are also anti-bacterial and anti-fungal for maximum hygiene.

Thanks to Tarkett’s Environmental Intelligence policy, landlords can gain significant benefits in line with the Code for Sustainable Homes. Within Tarkett’s extensive vinyl collection, many ranges have achieved a BRE A-rating, and all safety flooring is made using at least 25% recycled material. The company operates three of its own recycling plants, and recycles more than 130,000 tonnes of material each year.

Tarkett’s PUR surface treatments ensure that maintenance costs are kept to a minimum and offer further environmental benefits, including up to a 50% reduction in the consumption of energy, water and chemicals used for cleaning.

For a complete range of Intelligent Flooring Solutions, social landlords need look no further than Tarkett.
