JETFLOOR LO, THE LATEST DEVELOPMENT OF HANSON’S MARKET LEADING INSULATED FLOORING SYSTEM, RECEIVED ITS OFFICIAL LAUNCH AT THE RECENT FUTUREBUILD EXHIBITION.

The new product is the first of its kind to offer U-values as low as 0.15 w/m2K – representing a 25 percent improvement on current Building Regulations requirements and qualifying it for an ‘A’ rating under The Green Guide to Specification.

“Jetfloor Lo is a demonstration of our determination to provide housebuilders with the perfect start to meeting the Code for Sustainable Homes by providing a 25% improvement on current Building Regulations requirements,” said John Duffy, Sales and Marketing Director for the Precast Flooring Division of Hanson Building Products.

Jetfloor was the UK’s first composite flooring system to utilise expanded polystyrene (EPS) blocks to provide high levels of thermal insulation in ground floors. First introduced in the 1980s it has been the subject of continual improvement over the past 20 years.

Jetfloor Lo is the result of combining design improvements with a modified expanded polystyrene (EPS) block which incorporates a more efficient material. The new block will be easily identified on site by its grey colour rather than the original white.

“It offers builders who are aiming for a high rating under the Code for Sustainable Homes the perfect start,” said John Duffy.

Hanson is now able to offer Jetfloor systems with U-values ranging from 0.15 to 0.25 W/m2K, giving builders of both domestic and commercial buildings a choice of systems to best meet their requirements.

While its thermal insulation performance is the main reason for selecting Jetfloor, it is not the only advantage it offers. Because the insulation is incorporated within the system there is a reduction in the overall floor zone, effectively reducing construction costs.

The system is also fast and simple to install, again leading to a reduction in costs. It utilises standard prestressed ‘T’ beams which are infilled with the EPS blocks and then finished with a structural concrete topping reinforced with polypropylene fibres.

The blocks are light and easy to handle and no special skills are required for installation. The EPS can be easily cut with a saw to accommodate services.

THIS HIGH SPEED INSTALLATION ALLOWS FASTER ACCESS FOR FOLLOW-ON TRADES AND RESULTS IN EVEN MORE REDUCTIONS IN BUILDING COSTS.

“The other big advantage of Jetfloor is that it is a proven product,” added John Duffy. “It’s been already been installed in tens of thousands of domestic dwellings as well as in non-residential applications like schools and health centres, giving us the experience and expertise to meet the requirements of any type of buildings.

“This track record combined with our commitment to continual product development and improvement makes Hanson’s Jetfloor the perfect choice when designing or building new sustainable homes.”
