THE GOVERNMENT HAS RECENTLY ANNOUNCED PROPOSALS TO INCREASE FUNDING TO COUNCILS WHO ARE DELIVERING HIGH LEVELS OF HOUSING. IN ORDER TO BECOME ELIGIBLE FOR SUCH SCHEMES, COUNCILS ARE NOW LOOKING TO REGENERATE THEIR EXISTING HOUSING STOCK

Bristol City Council were looking to upgrade their non traditional housing stock and turned to Almura Building Products to help them complete the project on over 1200 homes. The Cheltenham based company was chosen as their Steni based system was the only product that fulfilled the strict and challenging criteria.
The upgrade, which began in Winter 07, covered the whole of Bristol and is part of the councils overall plan to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Almura have been brought in as consultants and suppliers on the project to ensure it finishes on time and to budget.
They are also supplying Nichiha cladding for the project, a specially sourced product which emulates the look of brick and can be fitted in bad weather, perfect for a project that will be continuing over the winter months.
Nichiha Brick and Stone Effect Cladding
Manufactured in ISO 9001 certified facilities these panels are quick to fix and can be installed in all weathers. An example of this is the brick panel which has over 60 bricks and mortar as its effect. The panels are tongue and grooved on all four sides for a tight fit and seamless appearance without the need of any sealant. The patented clip system saves time and reduces cost as no special tools are needed to complete the installation. This clip system also creates a ventilated cavity behind the cladding and utilises the ‘rainscreen’ principle. No exposed fixings mean a clean and realistic appearance. The panels are easily cut and worked on site and can be installed over various substrates including; metal framed, structural insulated panels (SIPS), concrete and timber framed buildings. They can be used on new-build, refurbishment and MMC projects
